Subsystems<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Subsystems create the mechanisms of the robot that interact with the environment. This often entails moving, shooting, placing objects, or climbing different structures. The division focuses on the design process and fabrication. Subsystems use computer-aided design to plan out mechanisms and use power tools and a CNC mill to make them a reality. There are usually around three subsystems per robot accomplishing different tasks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chassis<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

The Chassis Department is primarily focused on designing and building the chassis. Chassis also builds and implements gearboxes and motors into the chassis to have a sled, which is a robot that drives. Through collaboration with Electronics to organize the robot\u2019s electronics, subsystems can be mounted and integrated smoothly with the rest of the robot.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Electronics<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Electronics is responsible for developing and deploying the electrical system. Electronics works as an interface between programming and mechanical divisions, to carefully design electrical systems to meet the needs of robot mechanisms and software.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Programming<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Programming is in charge of the software aspect of the robot. Using Java, Programming codes motor controllers, pistons, and sensors to control the robot\u2019s mechanisms. Most recently, Programming has been revamping the rookie teaching curriculum to ensure that the rookies can be more confident in coding.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Design<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

The design department focuses on team marketing and awareness. The department’s projects center around the creative aspects of TKO: making posters, t-shirt designs, buttons, and other promotional items for the robotics team. For instance, Design made a poster for a panel the robotics team created to spread awareness about women in STEM. Their projects are made using mainly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Media<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Media focuses on maintaining and keeping this website up to date. This department specializes in the design, content creation, and animations through WordPress and it is also responsible for keeping our team’s social media accounts up to date while learning photography and videography.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Business<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

The Business and Writing department focuses on applying for awards and grants to display the team’s accomplishments. They communicate with companies and their representatives to form connections and get professional advice on how to improve the team. In addition, they frequently compose essays and written pieces on the team\u2019s merits to gain awards to help fund operations. This department is made up of experienced writers ready to help the team however they can, through conducting valuable research and procuring sponsors to support other branches of the team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Outreach<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Our Outreach department helps connect our robotics team to both other robotics teams as well as organizations outside of robotics. Our current focus this year is to start establishing new connections outside of FRC, such as helping spread STEM to a wider audience. TKO has been active in reaching out to our local community by teaching the basics of robotics to kids. We also coordinate projects such as bonding events with other schools. Not only do we focus on the robotics community, but we also promote social awareness and collaborate with DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion). We additionally write and edit awards for competitions. At the moment, we are preparing watch parties for various games our robot will participate in.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Leadership <\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Leadership is the liaison between students, mentors, and contacts outside the team. The president oversees the entire team, working with sponsors, operations, and the mechanical side of the team.
